Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any further questions, please contact the Box Office at 617-923-8487 or
e-mail tickets@newrep.org.

What is the difference between shows in the Charles Moesian Theater and shows in the Black Box Theater?
There is no difference in the quality of the productions between shows in the Charles Mosesian Theater and those in the Black Box Theater. Size and seating are the only distinctions between the two spaces. The Charles Mosesian Theater sits 340 patrons. Its larger size and proscenium stage allow for a tiered pricing system; therefore, seats are assigned based on their location. New Rep 7-Play Enthusiast and 5-Play Subscribers are able to pick their seats in the Charles Mosesian Theater for the entire season. The Black Box Theater seats 90 patrons, is general admission, and offers close proximity to the stage and actors.

Is there a difference in the scheduling of shows in the Charles Mosesian Theater and shows in the Black Box Theater?
There is no difference in the scheduling of shows in the Charles Mosesian Theater and shows in the Black Box Theater. The performance schedule for all of New Rep’s 2010-2011 is: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday Evening performances are at 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday Evening performances are at 8:00pm; Thursday and Sunday Matinees are at 2:00pm; and Saturday Matinees are at 3:00pm. This Season, the Black Box Theater will also have a Thursday Matinee performance. Please note the change in time of the Saturday Matinees. They are now at 3:00pm.

Why has New Rep changed its Á La Carte Subscription formatting?
To offer our valued Subscribers even more savings and flexibility, New Rep has revised its Á La Carte Subscription formatting to better reflect audience preferences and needs. As always, all New Rep Subscribers receive the best prices, the best seats, and Subscription benefits, including easy ticket exchange, discounts on guest tickets and at our restaurant partners, and missed performance insurance.

I am not a Subscriber. Can I exchange my tickets?
Yes!  Please call the Box Office at 617-923-8487 to process your exchange. Exchanges that are made by 6:00pm the night before the scheduled show will be charged a fee of $10.00 per ticket. Exchanges that are made the day of or after the scheduled show will be charged a fee of $15.00 per ticket. If tickets are exchanged for more expensive seats, the customer must pay the difference in the ticket price in addition to the exchange fee. The Box Office will not process ticket exchanges after 6:00pm.

I have already exchanged my tickets for a show. What do I do now?
If you have your original tickets, please mark them as INVALID and make a note of your new date.  Bring these invalid tickets with you to your new performance date to swap for the tickets at the Box Office.  If you do not have your original tickets, just come pick up your new tickets at the Box Office on your new date.

I am a Subscriber. Do I get a discount if I bring a friend to a show?
If you bring any friend to see a show, or you buy extra tickets for yourself, you are entitled to a Subscriber guest discount -- $7.00 off for shows in the Charles Mosesian Theater and $5.00 off for shows in the Black Box Theater @ New Rep shows in the Black Box Theater.

What is the "Bring-a-Friend Subscription Rebate?"
If you are a Subscriber and you get two of your friends, who have never subscribed to New Rep, to subscribe for the first time, we will give you a refund in the amount that you paid for one of your Subscriptions.

How do I get better or closer seats for the 2010-2011 Season?
When you renew your 7-Play Enthusiast or 5-Play Package Subscription, you are guaranteed the seats you had in the 2009-2010 Season. If you would like to change your seating, please indicate that on the back of your invoice. After the renewal deadline, we will release the seats of Subscribers who have not renewed. At this time, we will do our very best to improve your seats.

I would like to see New Rep performances on a different day of the week than the 2009-2010 Season. How do I do that?
Your renewal invoice indicates the day of the week that you attended during the 2009-2010 Season. If you would like to change to a different day of the week, please indicate your new choice of series on the back of your renewal invoice. If you switch to a different day of the week, we will do our best to seat you as close as possible to your current seats.

I Subscribed to the first Sunday Matinee in 2009-2010 and missed traditional Talkbacks with the cast. How can I attend Talkbacks with the cast in 2010-2011?
It has been brought to our attention that some of our Subscribers who have attended the first Sunday Matinee post-performance discussions in 2009-2010 missed Talkbacks with members of the cast. We have removed the first Sunday Matinee from of our Subscription series for our 2010-2011 Season and have added a fourth Sunday Matinee that will have traditional Talkbacks with the cast. Now all of New Rep’s Subscription Sunday Matinees will have post-performance Talkbacks with the cast. To enjoy these post-performance talkbacks, all you have to do is renew your Sunday Matinee Subscription.

How can I sit with my friends?
New Rep’s Box Office is more than happy to seat you next to your friends. Please list the names of your friends on the back of your invoice, and make sure they list your name on the back of theirs as well. Even if you think we know with whom you sit, please be sure by listing your friends’ names on the back of the form. We will do our very best to accommodate your request to seat you next to your friend(s).

I don't see the perfect Subscription option for me. What should I do?
Maybe you only want five or three plays or for whatever reason just can’t make it to a particular production. We are happy to be flexible and customize your Subscription to your individual needs. If you would like to hand pick your shows, please refer to our Á La Carte Pricing Chart and complete the order form available here, or call the Box Office and we will take care of you. Á La Carte Subscriptions are comprised of three or more shows.

I have subscribed. When will I receive my tickets?
Your tickets will be mailed out in early August. Watch your mailbox, and let us know if you have moved or if your summer address is different from the one listed on your invoice.

I'm already paying for tickets, why are you asking me to make a donation?
As a non-profit professional theatre company, ticket sales only cover 65% of our work. 35% of our income depends on donors like you, and any size gift is greatly appreciated. Did you know that you can participate in our Adopt-a-School program and provide a free performance of New Rep On Tour? Fund a visiting artist? Underwrite the cost of a show? Please consider making a contribution with your Subscription. For information on giving levels and benefits, click here or call Rachael Donnelly at 617-923-7060 x101, or e-mail at rachaeldonnelly@newrep.org.

If you have any further questions, please contact the Box Office at 617-923-8487 or tickets@newrep.org.

Thank you for supporting New Rep. Enjoy the show!
